Botox: Everything You Want to Know
Tulum, Mexico: My Botox Experience with Bio Spa Clinique
Calling All My Wellness and Beauty Lovers to Tulum, Mexico for more reasons than one!
I am no stranger to wellness and beauty experiences! In fact, I find as the years go by, my love and experience of both increases!
My beauty and wellness experiences have included Herbalife Nutrition, massages, facials, manis and pedis, hair treatments, nose job, fillers, and anti-aging and preventative care like Botox to name just a few.
While in Tulum, Mexico in June 2021, I enjoyed a Botox Experience with Bio Spa Clinique.

Botox Background
This isn't my first time getting Botox by far. In my 20s, I read about Botox as a preventative treatment. I started getting treatments maybe once to twice a year. Later, I varied my treatments to 2 to 3 times a year. Each time, I am more than happy with the benefits and results and how long they last. I choose to tolerate the few seconds to minutes of pain for the end result.
Before my travel to Tulum, Mexico, I knew I wanted to do Botox again. Although I usually keep up with Botox treatments every 4 to 9 months, in 2020 I didn't. Earlier in 2021, I realized my last Botox injections were in late 2019.
I could definitely see the difference in between my eyes, forehead, eyebrows and crows feet. Not only that, last year I experienced my first migraine. I mention this because there are many professionals who believe Botox assists with migraines too.
Botox may be impacted based on the type of Botox used, amount of ccs, age you start, frequency of treatments, facial movement, climate you live in, and how active you are, There may be other factors involved as well.
Keep in mind, I started sooner rather than later, have remained pretty consistent, am very expressive, and work out at least 5 times a week. Typically, Botox typically lasts me approximately 3 to 6 months. For example, at the 3 to 4 month mark, I may see increased movement in various areas. In comparison, if I wait 6 months, I see any lines that have formed are visible.
Botox treatments and the amount of ccs vary by preference. I prefer to have little to very little movement between my eyes, forehead, eyebrows, and crowfeet. In a photoshoot with Glamour Shots, you may see how my forehead is smooth, no lines in between my eyes or above my eyebrows, and no crowfeet.

When I started competing and dropped 55+ lbs in 2013 to 2014, the line on the side of my mouth developed. This is typical when your face gets slimmer and for bodybuilders. It doesn't bother me too much. I have gotten filler here before once or twice.

All About Botox
Botox is a protein made from Botulinum toxin, which the bacterium Clostridium botulinum produces.
Although this is the same toxin that causes botulism. when doctors use it correctly and in small doses, it has both medical and cosmetic benefits.
It may be more known cosmetically to reduce the appearance of skin wrinkles. However, in 1989 the
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have approved it as a treatment for various health issues, including eyelid spasms, excessive sweating, some bladder disorders, and migraines.
How Botox Works Cosmetically
Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. As a result, the injected muscle can't contract. That makes wrinkles relax and soften. Botox is used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye), and frown lines. It typically lasts 3 to 4 months and may be impacted by a number of factors.
Before your Botox Treatments
You may want to know it is recommended to avoid alcohol, aspirin, and anti-inflammatory medications 1 to 2 weeks prior to treatment. This will help prevent you from bruising.
For regular readers and listeners, you may know I stopped drinking alcohol 5+ years ago. I don't take any medications. I solely take Herbalife Nutrition Supplements. However, I thought for many of you this may be information you would want to know.
Botox May Cause Discomfort and Pain When Injected
I don't think anyone likes having a needle go into your face. Even though it is for a few seconds, you do feel more pain than a mosquito bite. You may hear the injection going in as well.
Although I have a pretty high threshold for pain, I wince every time the needle goes in. At the same time, the end results outweigh the momentary pain for me. I read an article recently from a blogger that said there isn't any pain. It made me laugh. You are getting needles in your face. Come on.
Botox Injections Are Fast
Although the injections may not be the best feeling in the world, it is over fast! You will take before pictures making facial expression for the doctor. You will share what you want to change. The Doctor will determine how many ccs and/or units to inject. The entire process lasts less than 10 minutes depending on your questions. The injections themselves are over usually in less than 1 to 2 minutes.
You may be sore at the injection sites and/or have a slight headache.
